The Culture & Psychology (C&P) School, sponsored by the International Association for CrossCultural Psychology (IACCP), is open to students at Doctoral or Masters levels who are interested in culture and psychology. The C&P School provides a research-intensive and interactive experience for participants from various universities to learn from one another and to receive specialized training from experts in different fields that incorporate culture in their study of psychology. The School takes place from the 28th of June to the 1 st of July 2018, preceding the 24th Congress of the IACCP to be held at The University of Guelph, Canada starting on the 1 st through 5 th of July 2018 with the theme “Multiculturalism in a Global Perspective: Benefits and Challenges.”
Our IACCP C&P School focuses on community engaged scholarship and supports the development of broad research skills, international collaborations, and preparation of scholarly manuscripts. Our goal is to stimulate networking and interactions with peers and instructors in a nurturing and productive environment. We also aim to emphasize the importance of the applied character of research and the necessity of interdisciplinary collaborations. Workshops are geared toward students of varying levels, from early graduate studies to advanced or senior graduate studies.
Applicants will need to submit (a) a 250-word maximum cover letter describing their reasons why they wish to join the C&P School, (b) the applicant’s curriculum vitae and c) fill in an on-line application form to be found here: https://goo.gl/forms/97lW1DDp9BhW49D02 . These documents should be submitted along with a completed online application no later than the 15th of March 2018. A decision letter will be emailed by the 31st of March 2018. Accepted applicants must pay the registration fee to cover an already subsidized program fee no later than the 14th of April 2018. Online registration and payment may be completed along with the early bird congress fee (with the same 14 April 2018 early bird deadline).
The cost for the summer school will be CAD$380 (~USD$310) for student members from mid-to high- income countries and CAD$300 (~USD$245) for student members from low-income countries. Attendees who are not members will add CAD$50 (~USD$40), unless registration for membership is completed one month prior (i.e., no later than 15 March 2018) to the congress early bird registration. Costs cover two workshops, lodging, lunches for each day, 1 dinner, coffee breaks, and first night welcome drinks.
The school will take place at the University of Guelph, Canada. Accommodations will be on campus housing.
